Meta Platforms is developing a dedicated TV app for Instagram, marking its first foray into living room screens. Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed the initiative at the Bloomberg Screentime conference, emphasizing the platform's need to adapt to shifting viewer habits toward television-based video consumption.
The MOVE positions Meta to compete directly with Alphabet's YouTube, which has long dominated TV streaming. With 3 billion monthly users, Instagram aims to leverage its Reels and video content to boost engagement and create new advertising opportunities on larger screens.
